A warm hello for Fall 🍁

As the leaves turn, our team at Osteopathic Family Medicine, LLC is getting ready for a busy and healthy season. We’re thrilled to share three big updates: a second office location opening this fall, influenza and updated COVID-19 vaccines available starting October 1, and a warm welcome to our new Nurse Practitioner, Julia Lawrence, APRN, FNP-C.

Big news: Our second location is opening!

We’re expanding to serve you better. Our second location will open in mid-October 2025 at: 46 Holley Street, Wakefield, RI, 02879

(Directly behind Ocean State Job Lot in Wakefield)

What to know

  • Phone: 401-284-4555 (same number for both offices)
  • Hours: Same as our Cherry Lane office
  • Parking & accessibility: ADA accessible, with dedicated handicapped parking spots and a front entrance drop-off loop without stairs
  • Services offered: Full-spectrum primary care,  preventive care, and care coordination with our local partners
We will continue to see patients at our 55 Cherry Lane office as usual. Your medical records and patient portal access remain the same.

Welcome, Julia Lawrence, APRN, FNP-C — now accepting new patients

We are excited to introduce Julia Lawrence, a Family Nurse Practitioner certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She will begin seeing patients in October 2025.About Julia

Native to Rhode Island, Julia began her nursing career after graduating from the University of Rhode Island with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked on the Inpatient Vanderbilt Rehabilitation unit at Newport Hospital, caring for patients recovering from complex medical and surgical conditions. She also gained valuable experience in outpatient dermatology, where she developed expertise in skin health.  Julia later completed her Master of Science in Nursing (Family Nurse Practice) at the University of Rhode Island. She is dedicated to providing patient-centered care rooted in a holistic approach, treating the whole person—mind, body, and lifestyle. Julia strives to create a welcoming and supportive environment where patients feel heard, understood, and empowered.

Scheduling

  • We are currently building Julia’s schedule and working through a backlog of new patients.
  • If you would like to become a patient, please call 401-284-4555 to be placed on our waiting list.
  • Appointments will be available starting in October 2025.

Flu shots & updated COVID-19 vaccines

We expect flu and updated COVID-19 vaccines to be available around October 1, 2025. In addition, we will host special vaccine clinics on:

  • Friday, October 3, 2025 — Cherry Lane office
  • Wednesday, October 8, 2025 — Cherry Lane office

What to expect

  • Scheduling: Call 401-284-4555 or book through the patient portal
  • Insurance: We bill most major plans. Please bring your insurance card and photo ID.
  • Who should get what?
    • Flu vaccine: recommended annually for all patients ≥6 months, unless contraindicated.
    • Updated COVID-19 vaccine: recommended this season per current guidance for everyone eligible; ask us if you’re unsure about timing after recent infection or prior doses.
    • Adults 60+ and those with certain conditions: ask about RSV vaccination and whether it’s right for you this season.
Tip: If you’re due for a Medicare Annual Wellness Visit or yearly physical, we can often give vaccines during the same appointment.

  • After-hours care: Our practice has on-call providers 24/7.
    • For non-urgent issues, call and press 1 to leave a message for staff to address when the office reopens.
    • For urgent (non-life-threatening) issues that cannot wait, press 2 to be transferred to our answering service and have the on-call provider paged.
    • For emergencies, always call 911.
