Spring Updates and Important Announcements

Dear Patients,

As we welcome the warmer days of spring, we want to share some important updates and reminders to keep you and your family healthy and safe.

Prescription Refills. Running low on your medication? If your prescription is out of refills, please contact your pharmacy first. They can often assist with obtaining authorization from our office to ensure you continue your treatment without interruption. This process helps streamline your care and reduces the need for multiple phone calls.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update for Patients Over 65. If you are over the age of 65, it’s crucial to stay up-to-date with your COVID-19 vaccinations. The latest vaccine booster is now available, and we strongly encourage you to schedule an appointment with our office to receive your shot. Staying current with your vaccinations helps protect you and those around you from severe illness.

Skin Care and Sun Protection. With the arrival of spring, many of us will be spending more time outdoors. It’s essential to take care of your skin to prevent damage from the sun’s harmful rays. Here are some tips to keep your skin healthy:

  • Use Sunscreen: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 every day, even on cloudy days. Reapply every two hours and after swimming or sweating.
  • Wear Protective Clothing: Long-sleeved shirts, wide-brimmed hats, and sunglasses can provide additional protection.
  • Seek Shade: Whenever possible, stay in the shade, especially during the peak sun hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water helps keep your skin hydrated and healthy.

Recognizing Abnormal Skin Lesions. It’s important to monitor your skin for any changes or abnormal lesions. Here are some signs to look for:

  • Asymmetry: One half of the mole or spot is unlike the other half.
  • Border: The edges are irregular, ragged, or blurred.
  • Color: The color is not the same all over and may include shades of brown or black, sometimes with patches of pink, red, white, or blue.
  • Diameter: The spot is larger than 6mm across (about the size of a pencil eraser).
  • Evolving: The mole or spot is changing in size, shape, or color.

If you notice any of these signs, please schedule an appointment with our office. We offer services to examine and remove abnormal skin lesions to ensure your skin remains healthy.
