Welcome to Our Fall 2024 Newsletter!
As we transition into the fall season, we hope you and your family are enjoying the crisp air and the upcoming foliage here in Rhode Island. This time of year brings not only a change in weather but also some important updates from our practice. We have a few exciting announcements and essential health reminders to share with you!
Flu and COVID-19 Vaccine Updates
The updated Flu and COVID-19 vaccines have arrived at our office! These vaccines are essential in protecting you and your loved ones from severe illness during the upcoming flu season. We encourage all eligible patients to get vaccinated as soon as possible. It is safe to get both the Flu and Covid vaccines at the same time, however, if you prefer to do them separately, we can schedule separate visits.
How to Get Vaccinated:
- Schedule a Nurse Visit: You can schedule a quick and convenient nurse visit to receive your vaccines.
- Attend One of Our Vaccine Clinics: We will be hosting vaccine clinics throughout the fall. Please call our office or check our website for clinic dates and times.
Stay protected this fall and winter by ensuring you are up to date on your vaccinations!
Welcoming Leah Ramella, MSIII
We are thrilled to welcome Leah Ramella, a third-year medical student (MSIII) from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, to our practice from September 23rd to November 1st. Leah is excited to join us and learn from our fantastic patient community. She will be involved in various aspects of patient care under the supervision of our experienced providers. We hope you’ll join us in welcoming her and supporting her on her journey to becoming a skilled physician.
Telehealth Visits for Your Convenience
As always, we are committed to providing you with flexible and accessible care. In addition to in-person visits for sick and follow-up appointments, we continue to offer telehealth visits. This is especially important if you develop a respiratory illness or need to limit exposure to others. Simply call our office to schedule a telehealth appointment that fits your needs.
RSV Vaccine Guidance
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) can be a serious illness, especially for older adults and those with chronic medical conditions. To keep our patient community healthy, we are offering the following guidance on RSV vaccination:
- Patients over 75: We recommend an RSV vaccine every two years.
- Patients over 60 with chronic medical conditions (such as COPD, asthma, heart failure, or diabetes): We also recommend an RSV vaccine every two years.
If you fall into one of these categories and have not yet received your RSV vaccine, you may get vaccinated this season at most pharmacies. We do not have RSV vaccine in stock at our office.
Stay healthy and enjoy the beautiful fall season!
Warm regards, Dr. Way and the Osteopathic Family Medicine Team
